Irrigation maintenance is an ongoing activity through summer. Because we try to use the minimum amount of water possible the salts are building up in the rootzone through late summer and autumn. In 2017 and 2108 we were lucky enough to get some heavy summer rains, but this summer has been very dry.
In an effort to save water we have been enclosing 3.5 Ha of new land in Carabooda with netting. It’s coming along slowly. The guys at Commercial Netting have been doing a great job but their work is much harder when it is windy. In Carabooda on most days we get a strong easterly in the morning and a strong westerly in the afternoon. It will be awesome when it is finished.
